Dura Micro, Inc. recognizes its responsibility as a corporation. Through our Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management Systems:
Dura Micro has aggressively pursued and implemented environmental responsibility measures for many years. In 2004 we were certified as a ‘Green Partner’ under Sony’s aggressive supplier certification program.
In January 2003 the European Union (EU) adopted two environmental directives, RoHS and WEEE, to contribute to the protection of human health and environmentally sound recovery and disposal of electrical and electronic equipment.
RoHS stands for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances and bans the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in electronical and electronic products. This directive was initiated at Dura Micro on January 1, 2006.
The WEEE directive, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, concentrates on the recyclability of electrical and electronic products, and states that, from 13 August 2005 onwards, manufacturers are required to finance the collection, treatment and recycling and recovery of all WEEE sold under their brand.
